Advisor Bhatnagar inaugurates COVID-19 vaccination drive for 12-14 years

Jammu: On the occasion of National Vaccination day today, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar formally inaugurated the COVID-19 vaccination drive Phase VI (CorBevax) for 12-14 years age group at Gandhi Nagar Hospital here.

Speaking after the launch of the drive, Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted that as the world was gripped by a deadly pandemic this year, vaccination day holds an important significance this year. He added that Covid-19 has made everyone understand the importance of vaccines and their benefits in our lives.

While highlighting the significance of this day, Advisor Bhatnagar said that this day is primarily celebrated with an aim to create awareness regarding effectiveness of vaccinations to prevent deadly diseases. He added that to dispel the myths regarding covid vaccine, this year’s theme vaccination day “vaccine works for all” has been framed.

After the launch of the vaccination drive, the Advisor also held an interactive session with the beneficiaries and staff.

On the first day of this vaccination drive, more than 200 students were administered the Covid-19 vaccine.

In the meanwhile, Advisor Bhatnagar took an extensive tour of MCH Hospital and had a first hand appraisal of medical facilities being provided to the public there.

During the visit, the Advisor inspected the dialysis unit, Emergency room, palliative ward and other facilities of the hospital. He also interacted with the patients and enquired from them about services given at the hospital.

While assessing patient care services in the hospital, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the officials to utilise all the advanced equipment of the hospital for the better management of patients. He also asked them to ensure that the installed CCTV cameras in all critical care wards are properly used to monitor patient care and services.

The Advisor also directed the Medical Superintendent to ensure that regular feedback is obtained from admitted patients regarding patient care.

Dr. Shashi Soodan Sharma, Principal & Dean GMC & AH’s Jammu, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Family welfare, MCH & Immunization J&K & DHS Jammu, Dr JP Singh, CMO Jammu, Dr. Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent MCH Hospital Jammu, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Medical Superintendent, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu and other senior officers of the health department were also present on the occasion.
