2-way LMV traffic today subject to road condition

Srinagar: The 278-km-long Jammu-Srinagar highway was restored for traffic after remaining blocked at Samroli in Udhampur district due to fresh landslides on Monday, officials said.

A massive landslide blocked the strategic 270-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district early Monday, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded, officials said.

The landslide struck the highway at Dewal near Samroli around 2.45 am, said the officials.

Senior Superintendent of Police, traffic (national highway), Shabir Ahmad Malik said road clearance agencies pressed men and machinery to clear the road and traffic movement was restored Monday evening for stranded vehicles.”

Meanwhile, the traffic department informed that Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) would be allowed from both sides on Jammu Srinagar Highway on Tuesday subject to fair weather and better road condition.

In an advisory issued today, the traffic authorities said that cut off for LMVs/private cars from Nagrota (Jammu) will be at 0800 hours to 1200 hours, from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0900 hours to 1300 hours and from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0800 hours to 1200 hours.
