Police officer shot at outside mosque in Batamaloo
Srinagar: Militants shot at a police officer outside a mosque in Srinagar’s Batamaloo area here on Monday, officials said.
The bullet hit inspector Sheikh Firdous, currently posted in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, in the neck, they said.
Reports said that the officer was shot at when he was returning from a mosque after offering evening prayers.
The officer has been rushed to hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.
Confirming the report, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted: “#Terrorists fired upon police Inspector Sheikh Firdous of #Batamaloo while he was returning from mosque after offering prayers. Shifted to hospital where his condition is stated to be stable. Area has been #cordoned off. Further details shall follow”.
