Ghulam Hassan Mir welcomes govt’s decision to set-up Women Commission

JAMMU: Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir today welcomed the Govt decision to set up a Women Commission in J&K.

Addressing a joining programme at Gandhi Nagar Office of the Party which was organized by Provincial Women Wing President Namrta Sharma in which Mir welcomed the new entrants into the Party and referred to various issues being confronted by the women in J&K.

The programme was also attended by State General Secretary Vikram Malhotra, State General Secretary, Syed Asgar Ali, Apni Party Spokesperson Senior Adv Nirmal Kotwal, and others.

Speaking on the occasion, he welcomed the decision taken by the Govt to set up Women Commission in J&K and termed it a decision which would help in redressal of many women related issues.

He, however, appealed that the Commission should be set up as early as possible following the announcement which was made by the Govt.

“The Commission should be made functional so that the women’s issues can be addressed timely,” he said.

He said that the problems being confronted by the women often remain unaddressed and hence, the role of Commission becomes important for the redressal of their concerns.

Party’s State General Secretary, Vikram Malhotra also spoke on the occasion and welcomed the newcomers into the Party.

He said that the people of J&K want assembly elections and restoration of Statehood which is a common demand of every section of society in both the regions.

He said that “Apni Party believes in unity of the society and development irrespective of differences.”

Meanwhile, Provincial President, Women Wing, Namrta Sharma expressed concern over poor redressal of issues being raced by the women with regard to many issues.

Namrta said that “If the Commission for Women is set up as per the announcement of the Govt, it would help the women in distress to raise their concern before the Commission.”

Namrta said that the Govt must establish the Commission without delaying it further.

Namrta demanded that the women should be given free education to the girls up to the colleges in J&K to encourage them to get higher education.

Namrta said the empowerment of women in every field is must as well as strengthening of grievance redressal institutions which were absent from the last several years. Namrta hoped that the women would get justice in the Women Commission.

Prominent among those who joined Apni Party include Anisha Kumari, Kushi Chauhan, Surgeet Kour, Meena Gupta, Ruhi, Tannu, Joyti, Bavneel Kour, Kamla, Parvinder Kour and others.
