J&K logs 349 fresh COVID-19 cases, 3 virus-related deaths

Srinagar/New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded 349 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which took the total number of positive cases recorded so far to 3,42,768, while three more persons died on the virus-related infection in the last 24 hours.

Of the fresh cases, officials said 202 were from Jammu division and 147 from the Kashmir Valley, while of the three COVID-19 deaths, two were reported from Jammu division and one from Kashmir.

Officials also said 116 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 84 from Kashmir and 32 from the Jammu division.

One new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 51 across J&K.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 98,575 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,90,82,886.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,42,768 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far across J&K, currently there are 2,049 active positive cases in the UT including 1062 in Jammu division and 987 in Kashmir, while as 3,36,186 persons have recovered and 4,533 have died – 2,332 in Kashmir and 2,201 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile, India on Thursday saw the biggest single-day jump of 495 Omicron cases, taking the total number of infections of the new variant of coronavirus to 2,630, according to Union health ministry data.

Of the total cases, Maharashtra has the maximum at 797, followed by Delhi at 465, Rajasthan 236, Kerala 234, Karnataka 226, Gujarat 204 and Tamil Nadu 121.

The country reported 90,928 fresh coronavirus infections, the highest in over 200 days, that pushed its caseload to 3,51,09,286, the data stated.
