Srinagar: Authorities at the Srinagar airport on Tuesday cancelled 42 flights due to poor visibility caused by the prevalent rains and snowfall in Kashmir and said that all the passengers of the cancelled flights shall be rescheduled in the next available flight of the concerned airlines.

At around 6.30 PM, Srinagar Airport official handle tweeted:

“Continuous snow fall and poor visibility resulted in 42 cancellations today across all airlines. The visibility has now improved and the flights are operating.”

In another tweet, around the same time, it said:

“All the passengers of the cancelled flights shall be rescheduled in the next available flight of the concerned airlines. There will be no extra charges for rescheduling. The passengers may also opt for full refund at their convenience.”

Meanwhile, amid rains and snowfall, Srinagar-Jammu highway remained open for vehicular traffic, however, authorities have advised people not to plan their travel along the highway without confirming the status of the road from concerned authorities at Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban.

The Srinagar office of the Meteorological department on Tuesday issued an ‘orange alert’ in Kashmir saying the prevalent rains and snowfall are expected to intensify in coming days.
