Srinagar:  Two militants affliated with TRF an offshoot of Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit were killed in an encounter with security forces in Okey area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam on Tuesday.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar told GNS that two TRF militants were killed in an encounter at Okey. However identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained.

They were involved in several militancy related incidents, IGP added.

Pertinently, last week three JeM militants including a foreign militant were killed in Kulgam district.

Earlier a joint team of Police, army’s 9RR and 18BN of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the joint team of Police approached towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
