Dr Syed Abid reviews implementation of JJM at Kulgam

KULGAM: The Mission Director (MD), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today visited Kulgam and chaired a meeting of officers of Jal Shakti Department to review the progress made with respect to the piped drinking water to every rural household under JJM Scheme.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Special Secretary JJM, Harris Handoo, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineers and other officers from Jal Shakti Department.

The MD held a detailed review of the district and took stock of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and status of works being executed by Jal Shakti Department (PHE) under JJM scheme in the district.

The chair was informed that 127 schemes have been tendered in Kulgam under JJM, 14 works have been allotted and 04 works have been completed under JJM scheme to provide safe drinking water to thousands of souls of 5 villages.

It was also informed that there are a total of 60289 households out of which 30004 have been already connected and the rest of households will be covered by the end of 15 August 2022.

During the meeting, it was also shared that all schools and Anganwadi centers are connected through tap water in the district.

On the occasion, the MD stressed upon the officers to work proactively to achieve set targets under JJM within a set timeline.

He also impressed upon them to put in best possible efforts and synergize coordination among different wings to provide 100 percent piped water to all households under the Mission.

During the visit, Dr Aabid also interacted with the contractors and listened to their issues for redressal.

All the contractors were urged to actively participate in the tendering process to make smooth implementation of the JJM scheme in the district.
