Former legislators, several delegations call on Lt Governor

Jammu: Various delegations including J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu; J&K Youth Congress, Yuva Jat Sabha, J&K; Chairman, J&K National Panthers Party, besides several others called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The delegation of J&K High Court Bar Association led by its president, Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj apprised the Lt Governor about various issues pertaining to infrastructure development in Janipur court premises, relocation of Tribunals to a central location, besides Social Security Scheme for Advocates, among other issues.

A delegation led by S Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar, General Secretary, J&K Youth Congress, including members of Yuva Jat Sabha, J&K also met Lt Governor and expressed gratitude for sanctioning one time age relaxation for Sub Inspector aspirants, besides presenting other concerning issues for consideration and redressal.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegations assured them that their genuine issues and demands would be looked into earnestly and redressed on merit.

Meanwhile, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP called on the Lt Governor and demanded establishing new branches of J&K bank in uncovered areas, proper functioning of online classes, besides apprising the issue of ration pilferage and establishing new ration depots, up gradation of power and water supply at Chenani, Dudu-Basantgarh and Ramnagar, besides other issues.

Similarly, former MLC, G L Raina, put forth various key concerns pertaining to security of minorities in the Kashmir valley, expediting the construction of transit accommodation for employees recruited under PM’s Package, security of temples and shrines, extension of welfare schemes to displaced families living or registered outside J&K and better facilities at government Hospital at Jagti township.

Listening to the issues projected by the former legislators, the Lt Governor observed that the UT administration is working with multi-pronged strategy for the holistic and inclusive development in J&K. He referred to the latest focused 10-point campaign launched by the J&K government to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

He assured the former legislators that the issues highlighted by them would be looked into for early redressal. He further urged them to continue their endeavours towards public welfare.

Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, Film Maker & Festival Director, Kashmir World Film Festival also called on the Lt Governor and apprised him about the Kashmir World Film Festival, latest edition of which is scheduled to be held in the coming April-May 2022.

The festival director said that four editions of Kashmir World Film Festival have already been held successfully in J&K.

While appreciating the efforts of Khan, the Lt Governor assured him of all possible support from the UT administration. The Lt Governor also asked Khan for spreading awareness among the film makers and artists to avail maximum benefits under the Film policy 2021, notified recently by the J&K government.

Later, Chowdhary Showkat Ali from J&K Saaf Suthra Movement met the Lt Governor and presented issues pertaining to the development and welfare of tribal population of the UT.

While interacting with Showkat Ali, the Lt Governor observed that the welfare and upliftment of the tribal community of J&K is top priority of the government and over the last few months, several decisions have been taken to ensure social and economic development of the community.
