Div Com Jammu inspects development works on Mughal road

Poonch: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer, today chaired a meeting to review the development scenario of Poonch and inspected development works on historic Mughal road as he concluded the two day visit to the frontier district.

The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner,   Inder jeet; ADDC Abdul Sattar; ADC Dr. Bashrat Hussain; Superintendent Engineers of different departments and district officers of Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Labour and employment, Social Welfare and other  departments.

At the outset, the DDC gave a description on the district profile and highlighted the physical and financial progress achieved under different schemes. He informed about the status of ongoing works under district/ UT Capex plan and central schemes including MG-NREGA, 14th FC and welfare schemes being implemented by different departments in the district.

Reviewing the Health sector, the Div Com directed the concerned officers to expedite the process of registration of beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat, PM-JAY SEHAT scheme. He instructed the officers to open registration facilitation counters at government hospitals for expediting the registration process. He also directed the Chief Medical officer to hold regular meetings with village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) in order to achieve desirable results.

The Div Com also reviewed progress achieved under DDC, BDC &PRIs Grants, MGNREGA and other RDD works being executed in the district. He took strong notice of slow tendering, allotment and execution of works under the schemes. He called for immediate corrective measures by plugging all loopholes to improve the utilisation of funds and timely completion of works. He directed the Additional District development commissioner to fix the responsibility of concerned officers for the delay and set a timeline for utilisation of BDCs, DDCs & PRIs grants.

The Div Com also expressed his concerns over delay in the registration of contractors for panchayat level works and directed the SE PWD to set his schedule for Poonch district and expedite the process of registration of contractors for early execution of works at village level.

He also reviewed the implementation of flagship housing scheme PMAY (Rural/Urban) and directed the concerned to project proposals of left out eligible beneficiaries under PMAY (G).

While reviewing progress under agriculture and its allied sector, the Div Com directed the concerned officers and Lead Bank manager to reconcile the reasons for the gap between PM-KISAN and KCC. He asked the Chief Agriculture officer to enhance the Button mushroom and Honey cultivation in the district keeping in view the huge potential and scope for the same.

The Div Com also reviewed digitization of land records program and called for spreading mass awareness about”‘AAPKI ZAMEEN AAP KI NIGARANI’- the remarkable initiative of the UT government for providing easy access to land records.

Reviewing the power sector, the Div Com directed the JPDCL for early start of back to village program works in Mendhar subdivision and early commissioning of completed projects. He also reviewed in detail the projects being executed by Jal Shakti, PWD, PMGSY and other departments in the district. He emphasized on effective and regular monitoring of works saying that ‘monitoring and supervision of development works is vital for obtaining tangible results’.

Meanwhile, the Div Com visited Peer Ki Gali and en-route inspected several works being executed on Mughal road including works being executed by tourism department. He met with several delegations of PRIs, prominent citizens, Beopar Mandal and municipal council members and listened to their grievances issues concerning their respective areas. The delegations put forth their demands and sought improvement of sewerage system in municipal limits, expansion of road connectivity, better Health facilities, up-gradation of Jal Shakti and Power infrastructure, adequate medical staff in health institutions and many other issues of public importance.

The Div Com issued on the spot directions to the concerned departments for timely solution of the projected issues. He assured the Public/deputations that all remaining issues would be addressed in a time bound manner.
