With 30% relaxation in syllabi, Class 8th exams to be conducted on MCQs based

Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday said that the Term-II examination of 8th standard will be conducted on Multiple Choice Question (MCQs) based with thirty percent syllabi relaxation.

In a notification issued by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) of Jammu and Kashmir, the Term-II examination of 8th standard students will be conducted for the students of Kashmir Division and Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division that will commence from November-22.

Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that SCERT-JK has asked its divisional offices to set 20 MCQs of 40 marks for each subject from the prescribed syllabus for Term-II examination, out of which students shall be required to attempt 70 percent of their choice which is equivalent to 28 marks and the same shall be raised to 100 percent (40 marks) on proportionate basis.

SCERT-JK has set the duration of papers of one hour and the students were asked to mark the correct option on the MCQ paper itself.

“The concerned Principal DIET shall prepare the result gazette and issue achievement cards to the students, expenditure on this account shall be borne out of the appropriate object head/savings in case of government schools,” it reads.

SCERT-JK said that all the necessary precautions and COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as notified by the government shall be strictly followed. “Further the sanctity of examination shall be maintained at all the levels and any laxity in this regard shall be viewed seriously and dealt as per the norms.” (KNO)
