Bhatnagar reviews progress on audit infrastructure, manpower of Polytechnic Colleges, ITIs

Jammu: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, today chaired a meeting to review progress on implementation of the report of various committees constituted for audit of infrastructure, manpower and courses offered at Polytechnic colleges and ITIs across Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon; Director SDD, Sudershan Kumar; Secretary, Board of Technical Education, Principals of various Polytechnic colleges and ITIs besides other concerned officials of SDD both in person and through video conferencing.

Advisor Bhatnagar said that SDD has major role to play in present world of technological innovations and knowledge explosion which requires multi-skilled persons.

While reviewing progress on audit of infrastructure and courses offered at various Polytechnic colleges and ITIs, Advisor Bhatnagar asked the officers to further improve the quality of training as well as infrastructure in these institutions.

Advisor further asked the officers to initiate steps towards streamlining the skill eco system in the UT besides focusing on institute–industry collaboration. He asked them to create linkage with government sector industries for creating employability and placement chances for pass-out students.

Principal Secretary highlighted the steps being taken up by the department for up gradation of infrastructure in skill development institutions across J&K.

Director SDD presented analysis report highlighting admission, training and placement scenario with respect to each branch.

Pertinently, SDD has constituted 17 expert committees to identify various factors contributing to low admissions in polytechnics besides listing out the reasons for low admission.
