Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam for demanding and accepting Rs. 80,000/- as bribe for release of payments for supply of Garbage Vehicles.
A spokesman of the Bureau, in a statement, said that ACB received a complaint alleging therein that Owais Ahmad, President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam was demanding Rs. 80,000/- as bribe for release of payments due to him for supply of Garbage Vehicles (Two Hopper Tipper Dumpers).
After receiving the complaint, ACB registered a case FIR No. 31/2021 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 and took up the investigations, the spokesman said.
“During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Owais Ahmad, accepting bribe amount of Rs. 80,000/- from the complainant,” said the spokesman, adding, he was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team.
