Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of SIDCO Industrial Estate Khunmoh and inspected various Industrial units operating there, besides assessing the infrastructure facilities available to the unitholders.

During his visit, Advisor had a detailed interaction with business unit holders, gave patient hearing to the issues and grievances they placed before him. He assured them appropriate consideration of their issues and suggestions.

Advisor, while emphasizing the need for development of Industrial Estates Khunmoh on modern lines, instructed the authorities to devise a comprehensive development plan, component-wise, including all facilities like Common Facility Centre, Medical facility, Recreation facilities, macdemization and beautification of internal roads of the estate, Dumping yard, Drinking water facility, Drainage, Scientific garbage disposal, Parks, Street lights, and other allied utilities. He said that Khunmoh being a prestigious Industrial area should fulfill all the basic parameters of a robust Industrial set up to be emulated in other estates of the UT. He directed the authorities to earmark land for the development of basic amenities there. He further directed the concerned officers to come up with a plan in this regard so that the same is taken to its logical conclusion in a time-bound manner.

During his visit, Advisor enquired about the employment generated by the units and the feasibility of the established units. He further enquired about the number of functional and stressed units in the area. Advisor visited various industrial units including M/s Real Tech, M/S Polytech Industries, M/S Asian ply and Laminates and assessed the overall functioning of these units.

Later, Advisor Baseer Khan held detailed deliberations with the representatives of FCIK and the Industrial Association Khanmoh. He interacted with a group of Industrial unitholders of the estate. The Industrial unitholders while appreciating the government’s proactive approach towards the Industrial sector especially the steps taken to ease out the procedural difficulties highlighted certain issues in implementation of the schemes and their smooth facilitation of ‘Ease of Doing Business’, time-bound clearance of files, pending payment with various departments, obtaining NOCs from various departments. They also raised the issue of permits of mining of stone dressing unitholders and granting of permission for levelling and extraction of rocks of allotted land at the industrial estate besides raised the demand for upliftment of the infrastructural facilities at the estate.

Advisor gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised and said that all the genuine issues will be addressed in a time-bound manner. He issued on-spot directions to the concerned officers to address the basic issues like regular power supply, proper drainage system. The Advisor assured the unitholders that the administration is keen to provide better industrial infrastructure to the unitholders in Jammu and Kashmir adding that several reforms have been taken up by the Government in this regard.

Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir, Chief Engineer PDD, President Industrial Association Khunmoh and other officers were present on the occasion.
