J&K reports 1,144 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 145 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities on Tuesday, taking its infection tally to 3,28,214 and the death toll to 4,419, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 121 were from Kashmir and 24 were from Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 56 new cases, followed by Budgam with 19 while two fresh fatalities were reported from the Jammu division.

Officials said 154 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 124 from Kashmir and 30 from Jammu division.

They said so far 78.30 percent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

There were 46 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in Jammu and Kashmir at present, they added.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,28,214 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,450 active positive cases across the UT, while as 3,22,345 persons have recovered and 4,419 have died – 2,247 in Kashmir and 2,172 in Jammu division.
