Body of missing cloud-burst victim recovered, toll reaches 5

Cloudburst kills four members of family in Baramulla

Baramulla: Body of the elderly head of a family, who was missing after cloudburst killed four of his family members in upper reaches of Rafiabad on Sunday, was recovered by rescue teams — taking the toll of those perishing in the incident to five.

The cloudburst that hit Kafarnar Bahak of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district yesterday had triggered flash-floods in which five members of a Bakerwal family were washed away. While bodies of four victims were recovered yesterday only, Haji Bashir Ahmad Khari (80), son of Chandi Khari, was missing.

Sources said his body was recovered during rescue operation by police and SDRF teams.

Pertinently, Tariq Ahmad Khari (8), Arif Hussain Khari (5), sons of Mohammad Farooq Khari, his daughter Nazia Akhtar (14) and wife Shahnaza Begum (30), and now his father Bashir Ahmad Khari (80) — all residents of Kalsiyan Nowshera area of Rajouri in Jammu region, was perished in the incident.
