Workshop on ‘short filmmaking’ concludes at Langate Army Camp

Srinagar: In a joint effort between Indian Army and Onir, a renowned Bollywood Director, the Kashmiri Youth were introduced to short filmmaking through a workshop conducted at Langate Army Camp from 27th to 31st August 2021.

“A total of eleven local youths, including one girl, participated in the workshop. These participants were selected after a rigorous selection process. The workshop was organised in two phases. First phase was online interaction with participants, in which they were introduced to the nuances of the film making and the second phase was physical interaction, which took place from 27th to 31st August 2021,” said PRO defence.

“The training team comprised of five members including Onir, who is an acclaimed, award-winning director and won the National Award for his film, “I Am”. He is also well known, for his highly acclaimed film, “My brother Nikhil”, which won several national and international awards, including for the best film and best director,” the PRO said.

“In five days, the participants learnt basics of film making. They were divided into three teams. The teams selected different themes of their choice for the short films and went on to shoot at various locations in North Kashmir. During the workshop, the participants were able to produce four short films which were screened at Army Camp, Langate on 31 August 2021,” he said.

“Onir highlighted, that the youth of Kashmir has got immense talent and he is confident that all participants will be able to produce good results. All participants were grateful to meet Onir and learn from him,” he added.
