Srinagar: The Jammu and National Conference on Wednesday said that there is no alternative to it and that it is the only party that truly represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh.

This was, according to the NC spokesperson, stated by Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, while addressing a meeting of party functionaries of Sonwar constituency here at party headquarters at Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

“Among others party’s provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, state women’s wing president Adv. Sabiya Qadri also spoke on the occasion,” the spokesperson said.

“It is germane to mention that the newly appointed Vice President Kashmir Province Ahsan Pardesi was brought in a procession to party headquarters by scores of workers of the Sonawar constituency, who wore a festive look on his elevation to the post of provincial vice president. On the occasion, the party leaders felicitated the newly appointed party, provincial vice president, Ahsan Pardesi for his new responsibility, hoping that he will rise up to the expectations. Among others Additional Spokespersons Mudassar Shahmiri, Ifra Jan, JS Azad, GR Naaz, GN Bhat, Qaisar Jalali, Dr Syed, GH Mohiudin, Provincial Secretary women’s wing Aisha Jameel were also present on the occasion,” he said.

“Addressing the workers, Sagar said that in order to facilitate the creation of a desired and integrated future, the confines of Jammu and Kashmir’s identity, unique socio-political character has to be protected and that only NC boasts the vigor and vitality to steer the region to safer shores in the changed and hostile times,” the spokesperson said.

“We have collectively outlived a traumatic past that we will never forgive. We cannot stay ideal and mourn. NC being the sole representative of people’s political and developmental aspirations has to lead from front to etherize JK’s identity on the basis of an inclusive, secular, progressive, socialistic vision. We have to build solidarities across communities around the address of injustices. The way forward is not a brutal rejection of the past, but making efforts to defend the genuine political, cultural, employment, developmental, and economic interests of the people of JK in the evolving situation. At the same time we have to remain cautious of the multiple enclaves that are being flaunted to weaken our ranks, and divide our voice,” the spokesperson quoted Sagar as saying.

While addressing the workers in the meeting, party provincial president Nasir said the newly mushroomed groups cannot provide an alternative to NC.  “The parties, which have come about are devoid of any ideology and principles,” he added. “The only aim behind creating such multiple enclaves is to weaken the singular, powerful and indigenous voice of people, which in the shape of NC has continuously been guarding the contours of regions socio-political precincts all along. Our vision hasn’t undergone any alteration; our idea of JK is the same. These parties have a vacillating disposition and keep on changing their stances on critical issues facing J&K. Had these parties been principled, then they would have strictly abided by a singular policy.  But, they cannot, as there isn’t any ideology they own up. Their sole endeavor is to fulfill their underhanded assignments aimed to weaken NC whose centrality in J&K politics hasn’t diminished because it is the people who stood by us.  Our workers have withstood all the tribulations and predicaments and fought zealously,” he said.

“Newly appointed VP Kashmir province Ahsan Pardesi also spoke on the occasion and said that he will make earnest efforts to live up to the expectations of the party leadership. He said that his stint in YNC will guide his course in the parent body. He expressed gratitude to party leadership, numerous workers, delegates and functionaries of Sonwar constituency for their support and affection,” the spokesperson added.
