Sopore’s cyclists make record with 7-hr ride to Chohar Nag Anantnag

Sopore: Mudasir Bashir Shah along with his friend, Tariq Hassan, both residents of Sopore, made history by cycling from south Kashmir’s Gawrun Larnoo to Margan Top – Chohar Nag (four lakes) – on Sunday.

This is for the first time in the history of mountain biking in the valley that someone has reached Chohar Nag on a bicycle.

Shah and Hassan started the expedition at 10 am from Gawrun Larnoo Anantnag. They cycled uphill for around seven hours and reached Margan Top at 1:15 pm. After taking 15 minutes break, they continued their journey towards Chohar Nag. At 2: 45 pm, the bikers made it to Chohar Nag.

They reached back to Gawrun Larnoo at 5:00 pm.

Margan top, located south in south Kashmir’s Anantnag is a mountain pass that connects Warwan valley in Kishtwar district with Kashmir valley.

Around 3 kms above Margan top are located four beautiful alpine lakes called Chohar Nag. Three lakes are located side by side and the 4th one is located around half a km away.
