Children of Turtuk, Tyakshi villages receive Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame
Srinagar: As part of the celebrations of 50 years of India’s triumph over Pakistan in 1971 War, soldiers, veterans, locals and school children of Turtuk and Tyakshi villages received the Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame with great zeal and enthusiasm, said a defence spokesperson.
“The Victory Flame was given a grand cultural reception with school children performing traditional Balti Dances,” the spokesperson said.
The events also included Guard of Honor to the Victory Flame and Wreath Laying Ceremony. The villages of Turtuk and Tyakshi have great historic significance since they were liberated from illegal Pakistani occupation during 1971 War,” he said.
“The area has since witnessed rapid economic and social growth and emerged as a top tourist destination of Ladakh,” he added.
