J&K records 203 fresh Covid cases, one death

Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir recorded 203 fresh cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the cumulative total number of infected persons to 3,19,355, while one new death pushed the fatality toll to 4,361, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 129 were from the Kashmir Valley and 74 were from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 42 cases, followed by 22 cases in Reasi district. No fresh case was reported from two districts and nine districts had new cases in single digits, they added.

The death toll rose to 4,361 as one fresh fatality was reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

They said 334 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 186 from Kashmir and 148 from Jammu division.

The officials said confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory stood at 32 as no fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening.

So far, they said 98.34 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,19,355 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 2,104 are active positive cases in J&K,  while as 3,12,890  persons have recovered and 4,361 have died – 2,231 in Kashmir and 2,130 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 1,08,46,544 test results available, 1,05,27,189 samples have tested negative till today.

Till date 26,03,838 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 9,348 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 2,104 in isolation and 2,93,356 in home surveillance while as 22,94,669 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
