Principal Secretary YSS inaugurates first batch of BLS TOT at GCOPE

GANDERBAL: Principal Secretary, Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Alok Kumar today inaugurated the 1st BLS 3-day Training of Trainees (TOT) at Government College of Physical Education Gadoora Ganderbal.

He was accompanied by Dr. Saleem-Ur Rehman, Director General YSS, Mohammad Ashraf, Special Secretary Youth Services & Sports and Mr. Bashir Ahmad, Joint Director Kashmir Youth Services & Sports Department.

The main resource person was Dr. Ijtaba Shafi, Master Trainer BLS from Directorate of Health Services along with Dr. Nusrat Ara, Medical Officer, Irfan Hussain Malik and Irshad Maqbool Malik Trainers accentuated the need and importance of BLS. The whole event took place under the supervision of Dr. Hartej Singh, Principal GCOPE.

BLS Lab being the 1st of its kind in Government College of Physical Education which was established in recent past. Basic Life Support is a level of Pre-Hospital Care which is used for the victims of life-threatening, illnesses or injuries until they are given full medical care at a medical center.

Principal Secretary enlightened the role of BLS in daily life and engrossed for inculcation of different terminologies, knowledge about the First Aid Kit along with defibrillator, the trainers should have the medical emergency number of local Health Services and certificate of participation of BLS should be issued to the trainees only after the completion & evaluation of 3-day training.

Later, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary attended by Director General, YS&S, Special Secretary to Government YSS, Joint Director Kashmir YSS, Principal and Assistant Professors GCOPE and discussed various issues related to Government College of Physical Education Gadoora Ganderbal.
