Even though police took over the body, but the family did not allow its postmortem (as part of inquest proceedings) and maintained that Malik may have died of heart-attack. So the man was laid to rest as per religious rituals.

Now, according to the locals, the family of the deceased suspect murder that their son may have been murdered by his in-laws. So they want the police to investigate the cause of death.

Accordingly, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, the body was exhumed today for fresh medico-legal formalities, and the specimens sent to Forensics Science Laboratory for further investigation, officials said.
