Temp increases across Kashmir valley

Srinagar: Amid forecast for “mainly dry” weather this week, the minimum temperatures increased in Kashmir Valley, the weatherman said on Wednesday.

A meteorological department official told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 2.8°C against 1.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.6°C above normal for this time of the year in this summer capital, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 1.4°C against 0.7°C on the previous night while the mercury settled at 0.5°C at the famous resort of Pahalgam against minus 3.3 on the earlier night.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 2.5°C against 1.1°C on the previous night.

The minimum temperature settled at 0.2°C in Kupwara against 1.1°C on the previous night, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.4°C against minus 4.5°C on the previous night.

Mainly dry weather is expected in J&K and Ladakh till March 6, Director meteorological department Sonam Lotus said. (GNS)
