Bandipora: A day after the Block Development Officer (BDO) died due to massive cardiac arrest, the government has miserably failed to evacuate the body of the deceased officer from Tulail village of north Kashmir’s Gurez area in Bandipora district citing inclement weather conditions as reason for not being able to do so.

The body of a senior officer of Rural Development Department (RDD), who died due to a massive cardiac arrest while performing his duty in Tulail area of Gurez yesterday, was not evacuated from Gurez to his home today due to bad weather, officials told the news agency KNO.

An official said that a BDO identified as Abdul Saleem Darzi of Anantnag, posted at Tulail suffered a massive cardiac arrest while he was on duty yesterday.  He said the officer was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body has been lying in a hospital in Gurez ever since.

Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the administration has failed to evacuate the body from Gurez to his ancestral home in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district today, he said.

He, however, said that the efforts will be made once again in the wee hours of tomorrow morning to evacuate the body, adding that the administration will also seek help from the Army, if required.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased officer have demanded immediate evacuation of the body from Gurez to his ancestral home so that his last rites can be performed.
