SRINAGAR: Apni Party General Secretary and former MLA Rafi Ahmad Mir on Wednesday stressed on the J&K government to take all advanced measures to ensure fresh academic sessions in schools, colleges and universities are completed smoothly and without any health hazards.

“The government must make all the requisite kits available to schools, colleges and universities especially sanitizers and face masks so as to stem the spread of the pandemic,” Mir pleaded in a statement issued here.

Stressing on the need for extra precautions on both sides, Mir requested the parents to cooperate with the schools staff and follow the instructions for a hassle free conduct of classes in order to ensure their wards remain safe and doesn’t become carriers of any fatal diseases.

He appreciated the decision taken by the administration to reopen schools after organizing multiple programme-cum-awareness meetings.

Mir expressed contentment over the re-opening of schools across Jammu and Kashmir while terming the year 2020 as a huge academic loss for the student community.

“I hope the current year will prove beneficial for our students as the news of re-opening of schools has brought a ray of hope to everyone. The online classes could never substitute the actual atmosphere of a classroom especially for toddlers,” Mir said.

He said the problem with virtual classes held across J&K was incremented by the 2G mobile internet services which made the situation worse for the students.

Apni Party general secretary stressed on the administration to ensure enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the educational institutions in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease.
