Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, (JKAP) Wednesday claimed that People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was formed to “collect” votes in DDC elections than to fight for the restoration of the lost status of erstwhile state.

JKAP general secretary, Mohammad Rafi Mir claimed that lack of concrete ‘roadmap’ was the main reason Peoples Conference led by Sajjad Lone parted ways from PAGD.

He said the PDP and NC failed to restore Articles 370 and 35A when the two parties had representation in the Parliament which made people of Jammu and Kashmir feel humiliated by revoking special status of the erstwhile state.

“NC and PDP initially refused to participate in elections given centers August 5, 2019 decision, but once DDC election was announced, they decided to fight it unanimously. They actually befooled people as the alliance was formed to collect votes and not to restore Articles 370 and 35A,” Mir told reporters at party head office here.

JKAP leader said the alliance partners had pledged to protect the special status of Jammu and Kashmir but the scenario changed when center abrogated Article 370 and divided erstwhile state into two separate Union Territories.

He said the PAGD do not have any political roadmap to adopt its promise of restoring lost status of Jammu and Kashmir on ground and that’s the reason why JKPC parted ways from the alliance.

“PAGD do not have any political roadmap to follow, how could they restore Articles 370 and 35A. When NC and PDP had representation in Parliament, they failed to protect special status now how on earth they could restore it,” he said.

He said the formation of PAGD was an election stunt to collect votes in the name of Articles 370 and 35 which stand abrogated
