Blaze damages 6 residential houses in Srinagar

Srinagar: Several houses were damaged in an overnight blaze that broke in Sekidafar area of Safahadal in Srinagar.

Quoting officials, news agency KNO reported that a Sub-Inspector rank officer of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) was also injured when he fell from a house while dousing the flames.

The massive fire, as per officials, broke out in a residential house at Ganderpora Chowk in Sekidafar and later engulfed at least six houses belonging to Muhammad Amin Lone, Shabir Ahmad Lone, Late Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Dilawar Bhat, Muhammad Aslam Bhat and Ghulam Muhammad Bhat.

Soon, fire-tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire as per officials, who said that a Sub Inspector rank officer from F&ES department identified as Noor Aalam Khan got injured when he fell down from a house during firefighting.

Deputy Director F&ES, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed that one of the officers of their department had suffered severe injuries adding he has been shifted to hospital for treatment.

Bashir further appealed people to use electric gadgets cautiously, saying that these gadgets were one of the reasons behind frequent fire incidents in winters.

Notably, this is the third fire incident in Srinagar within the last 24 hours.
