Tangmarg girl receives Sher-e-Kashmir sports award

Baramulla: A 24-year-old girl. Sabiya Nabi, from Tangmarg has received Sher-e-Kashmir sports award for her performance in skiing.

According to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sabiya Nabi, an alpine skier started her skiing journey when she was studying in 5th class.

She completed her basic course in 2009 after that she enrolled for intermediate and advance course in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

“I have participated in many regional, state and national events and won many medals,” Sabiya said.

In 2018, Sabiya participated in 27th Asian Alpine ski championship held in Iran.

Recently, she was facilitated with Sher-e-Kashmir sports award by J&K sports council.

Sabiya said her dream is to participate in Winter Asian Games and Olympics.

Sabiya appealed the youth of Kashmir, particularly girls to explore their talent in field of sports.

“I owe my success to my father who always supported me to pursue my career in sports,” she said.
