Maqbool Veeray remembered on his first death anniversary

Anantnag: The prominent journalist, poet & writer, Makbool Veeray was remembered on his first death anniversary here at Govt Degree college for Women Anantnag on Saturday.

The event was organised by Maraz Writers & Artists guild, Anantnag Working Journalists Association, Maraz Adbi Sangam in collaboration with Govt Degree College for women Anantnag.

On the occasion, many prominent personalities shed light on the life of Makbool Veeray and spoke about the philosophy of life and death.

Among the speakers were Adil Yousuf, Raja Yousuf, Gulzar Ganie, Tasaduk Rashid, Zafer Salati, Zahoor Gulzar, Zahoor Rizvi, Shakeel Azad, Bashir Indrabi, Aashiq Veeray, Dr. Ali Mohd Dar Principal Degree College Women, Qasim Sajad, Bashir Pahalwan and Hilal Ahmad Shah.

A posthumous award was presented by Anantnag Working Journalists Association for the works done by Makbool Veeray which was received by Aashiq Veeray, brother of Makbool Veeray.

Meanwhile, “Gousha-e-Maqbool” was launched by a weekly newspaper, Shaherbeen.

A Mushaira was also held in the remembrance of Makbool veeray in which prominent poets of the valley participated.
