Srinagar: Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Wednesday observed that the Pattan constituency in district Baramulla has always faced developmental deficit because of some political elements who would manipulate electoral exercise in their favour thereby defeating the actual purpose of democratic process.

Addressing a series of DDC election campaign meetings at Tilgam, Malik Mohalla, Wanigam Bala and Wanigam Payeen in Pattan constituency, Mir said that the inhabitants of the area were considerately suppressed by certain political forces resulting into misrepresentation of this historically important constituency from time to time.

“The so called political representatives of this constituency wanted its burning developmental issues to remain burning for their vested political interests. Regrettably, a large section of this constituency would always become the victims of this exploitation and political maneuvering,” Mir remarked.

He urged the people to ensure massive participation in the forthcoming DDC elections so that they enjoy the dividends of grassroots level democracy.

“Your vote has the power to change this dismal developmental scenario. If you participate in these elections in good numbers and support the candidate of Apni Party; you will certainly get fully empowered to discuss, decide and execute the developmental requirements of your areas by yourself,” Mir added.

He said that the times have changed and he was hopeful that people will defeat the nefarious designs of such political forces who coin and raise misleading slogans to hoodwink the electorate for their own political relevance. “In past, a vast mandate of this constituency has been deliberately underrepresented by your elected leaders because you never participated in full to defeat their political games or make them accountable,” Mir added.

The Apni Party senior vice president said that people across Jammu and Kashmir have now understood the agenda of such divisive political forces who want to grab the power by hook or crook.
