Theft cases on the rise in Karnah
Kupwara: Amid the ubiquitous availability of drugs in border town Karnah, the theft cases are increasing day by day in the area, police officials said.
According to the official sources, from last five days, two separate theft cases have been reported in which thieves broke into shops and stole goods, one case was resolved by police and stolen items worth 50 thousand was recovered from the accused.
Officials said that the drug addicts are indulging in theft in order to support their drug habit. “It is revealed that the drug menace has spread to an alarming extent in border town Karnah which is why theft cases have suddenly increased,” they said.
“The persons who have become drugs addicts are unable to afford drugs through regular means as a result they may attempt to commit theft. Drug addiction and criminal behavior often go hand in hand. We will continue the drive against drug trafficking till it is completely eradicated in the area,” they added.
