Of ‘2061’ untrained teachers, Govt to train 200 teachers for session 2020-22

Srinagar, October 07: As the number of untrained teachers in Government Secondary Schools is over 2000 in Jammu and Kashmir, the educational department Kashmir on Tuesday approved deputation of only 200 untrained Grade-II and General Line Teachers to undergo B.ed courses.

Pertinently, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in a Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting held earlier said there were 2061 untrained teachers in Government Secondary Schools based on Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) 2018-19 who do not meet the requisite professional qualifications.

However, the Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Tuesday has sanctioned deputation of 200 in-service untrained General Line Teachers and Grade-II to undergo B.ed course at Government College of Education Institute, Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) Srinagar during the session 2020-22.

DSEK in the order while mentioning the conditions for the deputation of untrained teachers said that the deputation is made without prejudice to due consideration of superior claim, if any reported.

“The deputed teachers will be required to join the course in the college of Education Srinagar by or before October-15 and in case if any fails to report to the principal, College of Education Srinagar by the specified date shall forfeit their claim for deputation to B.ed and the deputation in their favor shall be liable to be cancelled and the same shall invariable be recorded in their service records and their application for such deputation in future shall not be entertained,” reads the order.

DSEK further said it shall be the responsibility of the concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO), Head of Office and Institution to verify the particulars of each deputee by reference to their service book and the original testimonials, before relieving them for the course.

“The CEOs, Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) concerned shall ensure that the deputees who have acquired graduation during their service, honorarium period have been allowed to do so by the competent authority and leave whatever kind due has been sanctioned or entered in the service records accordingly,” it reads — (KNO).
