FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday asserted that spiteful measures undertaken by the government of India (GOI) on August 5th last year have not fared well in any region of J&K, and that the party will fight for the restoration of unique identity of J&K.

A meeting of district Srinagar party functionaries, which was presided over by Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, was held here at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha.  Party’s Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Vice PP Muhammad Syed Akhoon,  YNC Provincial President Kashmir Salman Ali Sagar, women wing President Kashmir Er. Sabiya Qadri, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq also addressed the meet.

The meet saw large participation of workers, functionaries and delegates from across district Srinagar, a statement issued by the party said.

In his maiden address to the workers and functionaries after his release from yearlong incarceration Party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar expressed gratitude to the workers and party functionaries for holding the party flag high during the most tumultuous and challenging times post unilateral abrogation of state’s unique constitutional status. He also expressed deep anguish over the confabulations which were churned out to demean and dismember the people’s representatives of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the bond that National Conference share with the people of J&K is age old and watered by the mutual trust.

“Our party has survived various watershed moments since its inception on account of its deep-seated connection with the people of J&K, saying that the party will continue to mirror the aspirations of the people of J&K. No power on earth can brush-off National Conference from the political scene of J&K since we draw our sustenance from people. It is the trust of people, and the sacrifice of our numerous leaders, workers, associates and delegates that has kept us going. Time has again proven that National Conference is the true representative voice of the people of J&K,” he said.

Party’s Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said that the National Conference owing to its representative character and deep-rooted bond with the people of J&K has been in a line of fire from forces inimical towards the genuine interests of the people of J&K.  He said that the way party remained together since August last year shows how deeply rooted the party is amongst the people of J&K.
