Two timber smugglers arrested in Sopore, illicit timber seized

Baramulla: Police in Sopore claimed to have arrested two timber smugglers and seized illicit timber from their possession.

A police officer said that acting on specific information a forest team along with station house officer Dangiwacha under the supervision of SSP Sopore arrested two notorious timber smugglers in Rafiabad area and seized illicit timber from their possession.

He said they were carrying illicit timber in a vehicle bearing registration number JK05B 8479.

The timber smugglers arrested were identified as Irfan Ahmad Tantary son of Mohammad Abdullah Tantray resident of Kanthbagh Baramulla and Firdous Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah Mir resident of Tarzoo Sopore.

The officer said, a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
