Baramulla records 5 more Covid-19 positive cases

Baramulla: Five more persons including three minors tested positive for Covid-19 in Baramulla on Tuesday, taking the tally of positive cases to 72 in the district.

A health official said that the two children belong to a single family of Zandafarn Narvaw area whose uncle tested positive after quarantined as Pirmary contact of the first cop who was tested positive last Sunday. With these two kids, the contacts of the cop from Malpora who tested positive have reached to 15 among which 12 positive cases are from Malpora village alone.

Following the surge in the positive cases in Malpora village of Sheeri Narvaw, district administration declared Malpora village as red zone and its surrounding villages Bulbulabad, Audora, Gulistan, Wansiran, Sochliwaran, Fathegarh as buffer zones to prevent the spread of deadly Coronavirus, reads an official order issued by District Development Commissioner Baramulla

The three other positive cases are – a 33-year-old from Kantbagh, an 8-year-old from Kakarham old town Baramulla and another person from Sopore.

The Baramulla administration has so far quarantined over 89 people and all of them are primary contacts of earlier tested positive contacts of cops, woman and doctor.

Block Medical Officer Sheeri Dr. Sheikh Farooq said that there is no need panic and people should not believe in rumors and for any emergency control room has been established to deal with medical emergencies and covid-19 related cases.

“We have established a control room which will work round the clock besides and for massive screening of population five teams have been constituted to provide medical care at door steps,” Dr. Sheikh Farooq added.
