He said the hiding militants opened fire at the security forces, who retaliated, triggering a gun battle.

Four militants were killed in the operation, the official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is being ascertained, he added.

Meanwhile, a top police officer said that Police has taken DNA samples of all the four unidentified militants.

“So far, family of one of the killed militants has approached Police,” he said, adding, if they identify the body, 2 to 3 members of the family will be allowed to participate in burial.

He said if there are some further claims later on, their DNA would be taken for further action.

Police sources said that the burial will be conducted in presence of a magistrate.
