SMC conducts sanitation, fumigation drive at KU’s main Campus

Srinagar, March 15: As part of the precautionary measures against Coronavirus threat Srinagar Municipal Corporation conducted a fumigation drive at main Campus University of Kashmir here on Sunday.

On the request of varsity’s Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali deputed a special sanitation team which conducted sanitation /fumigation at several places in and around the campus including its various academic blocks and departments, administrative  block, various utilities and lawns of the campus.

The team was provided with special equipment to protect themselves from any infection while carrying out the sanitation job.

During the drive awareness was given to the University staff about how to protect themselves from the novel coronavirus.

Garbage collection points and dustbins were sterilized and sanitized.

While expressing gratitude towards the efforts of the SMC, Registrar KU Dr Nisar A Mir said, “I am very thankful to the SMC Commissioner and his team for this fumigation drive carried at our Campus and spreading awareness about personal hygiene amongst the University staff and faculty.”

Earlier, the Registrar had issued several orders for enforcement of precautionary measures within varsity’s main Campus and other satellite campuses which includes postponement of various seminars, conferences and sports activities which were scheduled to be held upto March, 31, 2020.
