“During the course of investigation, officers investigating the crime learnt that Javid Khan had taken his daughter inside the forest area and murdered her following an argument pertaining to the fixing of her marriage led to a disagreement,” said the official.

The accused has been arrested and remains in police custody, he said, adding that the body of the girl has been handed over to her family members after completion of the medico-legal formalities.

“Experts from FSL also visited the scène of crime to gather vital pieces of physical and material evidences in the instant matter,” he said.

Wailing mother of slain girl Sahkeela Begum said her husband took their daughter Gul Afshan along on pretext to help him at his bakery shop. “I had no idea that he will kill her,” she said.

“The accused also confessed to have asked her daughter to accompany him to the bakery shop. He also confessed that following a disagreement over a marriage proposal, he hit her with some cane in the head and later strangulated her to death on the spot. He later dumped her body in the forest,” a police official said.

The accused had informed a local resident about the crime, later on turned himself in at the Police Station Chandoosa, the official said.
