Transmission wires hanging on tree branches pose serious threat to residents

Ganderbal 27 July: Despite various government schemes for power development in rural areas  transmission lines hanging on trees  dipict sorry state of power infrastructure  in  Kachan village of Ganderbal district.

Local residents of Astan Mohalla Kachan said that  their villages  had been  totally neglected by PDD. From last one decade LT transmission lines are hanging on trees. Some  wooden poles were there which are now damaged.

“PDD should have installed iron or concrete  poles here but they choose to hang the wires on trees. It poses serious threat to life and property of locals here,” they added.

President  Sarpanch association Ganderbal Nazir Ahmad Raina said, “District administration is in slumber. I raised this issue with PDD officials many times but to no avail.”

“The wires are very close to ground. Even you can touch it with your hand. Recently a horse died because the poor got in contact with a live wire,” he added.
