School of Law, KU flags off Legal Literacy Campaign to Gurez Valley

Srinagar, July 27: To facilitate legal awareness among the common masses Registrar, University of Kashmir (KU) Dr Nisar A Mir and Prof. Muhammad Hussain, Head and Dean School of Law flagged off a batch of final year students of School of Law KU to remote area of Gurez Valley in Bandipora District for legal literacy program.

The purpose of holding legal literacy campaign organised under the aegis of School of Law KU is to make the general public aware about their legal rights and the remedies available to them in case of infringement of their legal rights.

While flagging off the group Registrar, KU Dr Nisar A Mir, highly appreciated the initiative of the School of Law and said, “Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere and the main aim of this programme is to make the law to reach the downtrodden/marginalised and poor people of the society.”

Speaking at the occasion Prof. Hussain said “There are many laws in the country and all the laws are crucial from birth to death of a person. So there is a need to create awareness among people. In this regard awareness programme on law is conducted and law students are fully involved in this to create awareness among the general public.”

Legal Literacy Program will be held for four days in which students of B.A.LL.B 10thSemester will sensitise people about the legal rights available to them.
