Srinagar, Jul 07: President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that centre government should initiate dialogue with separatists in Kashmir as the latter have raised green flag about talks.

Talking to reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, Mehbooba, as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, said that the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference has said that they were ready for dialogue.

“Centre government should take advantage of the statements made by moderate faction of separatists that they are ready for dialogue. I don’t know with which power centre government will resolve Kashmir than talks,” she said.

“Centre government is repeating the same mistake which separatists did in 2016 when a team of ministers visited Kashmir and knocked at the doors of the separatists. This time the separatists have said that they are ready for talk. I think better late than never, the centre should start dialogue with separatists,” she said.

Commenting on the highway ban during Amarnath Yatra, Mehbooba said that the Governor should review the decision as it does not serve the religious harmony and brotherhood.

“Amarnath yatra has been going on in Kashmir for centuries and it was a symbol of religious harmony and brotherhood. It went smoothly during the period when situation in Kashmir was more violent,” she said, adding that restrictions on the movement of the civilian traffic is creating inconvenience for pilgrims, common people.

“I urge the Governor to review the decision,” she said. (KNS)
