DG Prisons visits Correctional Home Pulwama, District Jail Anantnag

SRINAGAR, JULY 03: Director General Police (Prisons) V.K. Singh today visited Special Jail (Correctional Home) Pulwama and District Jail Anantnag to review the security arrangements and assess the general living conditions and training facilities available in these facilities for the inmates.

SSP Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Khan, SP Pulwama Chandan Kohli, Superintendent Special Jail Pulwama Reyaz Ahmad, Superintendent District Jail Anantnag Syroz Ahmed and other concerned accompanied the DGP during his visit.

The DGP inspected all barracks, CCTV Control Room, hospitals, reformation blocks, kitchen and other sections of the Jails. He interacted with the inmates regarding food, accommodation, medical and training facilities available in the jails. He asked the Superintendents to take necessary measures for improving the facilities in jails and instructed for further toning up the efficiency and management.

Later, the DGP took a darbar of Prison staff during which he attended to their grievances. He said that emphasis is being laid on welfare, training and development of Prison staff. He said that Prisons are an integral part of Criminal Justice System as such staff is required to work in the interest of security and reformation of inmates.

He also reviewed the ongoing construction work at both the places and asked the concerned to ensure completion of the same within the given timeline. He directed Technical Wing for upgradation of interview room at Special Jail Pulwama.
