Comprehensive prog undertaken for sustained development of State: Sharma

SRINAGAR, JULY 01: The Advisor K K Sharma today said that the government has undertaken a comprehensive programme for ensuring sustained development of the State with special focus on the far-flung areas so that people living there are provided with quality basic amenities.

The Advisor was speaking while interacting with scores of deputations who came to meet him during his tour of Basholi to review the pace of various developmental initiatives undertaken by the government.

The Advisor said that sustained efforts are needed for the fast pacing of the ongoing developmental works with special focus on the projects which have been languishing since long. He said that the government has undertaken a special programme for completing the languishing projects by arranging the requisite funds for these so that they are completed and people get benefited.

President Municipal Committee Basholi Sumesh Sapolia along with some of his counsellors called on the Advisor Sharma and presented him with a memorandum of demands which primarily included developmental works to be undertaken in the area and demanded adequate intervention from the government.

Basholi Vikas Manch also called on the Advisor. During his interacting with the Advisor said that the government is actively considering the process of augmenting the tourist related activities and infra in the area so that tourism-related activities get a boast which would result in giving a fillip to the economic and developmental activities in the area.

The other demands raised by the delegation included shifting of Basholi Bani Development Authority from Mahanpur to Basholi, opening one new niabayat, starting the work on the solid waste management project at Basholi, upgrading the PHE and PDD sector.

Another delegation from the area was of the Bar Association Basholi, who demanded the widening of local bus stand, early execution of widening of Basholi to Mahanpur road and establishment of the office of CEO Basholi Bani Development Authority at Basholi instead of Lakhanpur. The delegation also asked for a Revenue complex, playing stadium, Grid station and workshop at Basholi.

The other deputations calling on the Advisor demanded timely execution of connectivity projects in Basholi, filling vacant posts at Basholi hospital, revival of Basholi painting and Pashmina, painting centre at Basholi to promote the art form.

Land compensation issues were also raised with the Advisor who directed for their early disbursal.

Advisor directed XEN PDD to maintain the transformer bank in Basholi to mitigate power woes. He further directed the PDD officers to complete all codal formalities for establishing grid station at Basholi.

The Advisor later visited the Basholi painting centre run by a NGO “Vishavstali “where he interacted with the artists present there. He said that the government is keen to undertake the steps for revisiting the traditional arts of the State and in this endeavour necessary intervention would also be undertaken for the revival of Basholi art, which is acclaimed world over.
