Opening ceremony of Mega football competition held at TRC Astro-Turf football Ground

Srinagar, June 11:  The Department of Youth Services and Sports today organized grand opening ceremony for Inter-District State Level Mega football competition at TRC Astro-Turf football Ground.

The occasion was graced by Financial Commissioner Dr. A.K Mehta Jammu & Kashmir State as Chief Guest, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K, Sarmand Hafeez graced the occasion as Guest of honor.

Senior Police officers among other officials from Youth services & Sports & J&K State Sports Council were present at the grand function. 88 teams both Boys & Girls across the geography of J&K in two age groups 13-16 & 17-19 are participating in the tournament. More than one thousand two hundred players and officials are participating in this Mega event.

Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman presented the welcome address at the inaugural function. A colorful March-past by participating Teams both Boys & Girls was the highlight of the event. The competition shall last till 15-06-2019 followed by a closing ceremony at the same venue. The matches for Girls will be played at District Ganderbal, while as boys will compete for the title at different venues of District Srinagar.

Chief Guest in his address applauded the role of Youth Services & Sports Department in conducting such type of activities round the year and assured his full cooperation for the upliftment of Sports in J&K.
