Man arrested for ‘burning wife’
Srinagar, May 14: A man has been arrested in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on charges of burning his wife.
According to a police spokesman, police received an information that a woman (name withheld), resident of Handwara has been admitted in hospital with burn injuries.
A local police unit rushed to the hospital and they learnt that her husband was reportedly involved in “the commission of offence”, spokesman said adding the accused has been arrested and remains in police custody.
A case (FIR No 99/2019) under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation is going on, spokesman said, adding that experts from FSL (Forensic Sciences Laboratory) and photo-recording team have been dispatched to the spot for collection of evidences from the scene of crime.
