Maraz Adbi Sangam felicitates Dr Aziz Hajini

Recalls his contribution in literary world

Srinagar, May 04: Maraz Adbi Sangam in collaboration with Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) on Saturday felicitated noted poet and former Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Dr. Aziz Hajini–recalling his immense contribution in the field of art and culture.

The function was presided by noted poet, Ghulam Nabi Aatish, while as other dignitaries including noted poet and broadcaster Farooq Nazki, Director Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Gulzar Ahmad Shabnum, Yousuf Jehangir were present in the presidium.

In his welcome address, poet Ali Shaida sketched a brief profile of Dr. Hajini saying that his literary work and contribution as Secretary as JKAACL has brought positive developments in the field. Shaida also hailed prominent literary figures for showing up at the function and paying their tributes to the well-known writer and poet.

Speaking on the occasion, noted poet and broadcaster, Farooq Nazki highlighted his contribution in the literary field–saying that Hajini has immensely contributed in the field and became a bridge between three distinct regions of the state. He said his efforts as Secretary (JKAACL) in promoting art, culture and languages of the state would be remembered for centuries. He further said that Dr. Hajini successfully brought all the stakeholders on board to promote various literary and cultural aspects of the state.

Director Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Gulzar Ahmad Shabnum, on the occasion applauded Dr. Hajini for successfully completing his years in active government service. He said that the felicitation to Dr. Hajini by cross section of the society speaks volumes about his sincere and dedicated work done in various capacities during his long tenure. He hoped that Dr. Hajini proves a torch bearer for the young generation of the State to work in the field of Art Culture and Languages.

Shabnum said that Hajini as a teacher, prolific writer, poet and cultural activist would be remembered for bringing positive hope in the field. He said that Hajini would now be much required for cementing the relationship among regional, ethnic groups of the state and advocates for cultural promotion at a bigger scale as a convener of Sahitya Academy.

Among others, those present on the occassion were Former Director Education, Mohammad Rafi, former directors of Radio Kashmir Srinagar, including Rafiq Raaz, Ruksana Jabeen, Poet and academician Bashar Basheer, Poet GR Hasrat Gadda, noted satirist and poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Iqbal Nazki, Ayash Aarif, noted poet Ayoub Sabir, abd president Adbi Markaz Kamraz Farooq Rafiabadi, Cultural Officer, Riyaz Fazili.

Meanwhile, professor Muhammad Zaman Azurdah presented a citation and shawl to Dr. Hajini while as Kashmiri Languages Organization also presented a shawl to Hajini as mark of respect and affection.

Noted historian and former director, Staff College Kashmir, University, Dr. Farooq Fayaz presented a paper on the life and achievements of Dr. Hajini.

On the occasion, cultural wing of the DIPR, presented a colorful cultural programme–enthralling the audience.
