Protests rock Trehgam after ‘army thrashes shopkeeper’
Srinagar, Apr 20: Protests erupted in Trehgam town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after Army allegedly thrashed a local and damaged a vehicle on Saturday.
Locals alleged that army personnel assaulted a shopkeeper and a woman “without any provocation and later damaged a vehicle”. They said army also “opened fire on protesters”.
The protesters blocked the Trehgam–Kupwara road amid pro-freedom and anti-army slogans.
DySP headquarters Kupwara confirmed the incident and said that the “situation in the area is now normal”.
