DDC Budgam reviews arrangements for Baisakhi festival

Budgam, April 11: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting of officers to take review of arrangements to be put in place on the eve of Baisakhi festival to be celebrated across Kashmir on April, 13-15.

The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, ACD Budgam, Waseem Raja, ARTO Budgam, Mubashir Jan, AD FCS&CA, Najwan Nazki, Ex. En PHE, officials from PDD, Municipality and Health departments. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Sikh Community.

During the meeting, the DDC directed PHE and PDD departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity to all Sikh inhabited areas particularly to main Gurdawara in Beerwah. The DDC said that the District Administration shall provide 3 quintals of rice and 50 kgs free sugar for langer facility to visiting devotees at main Gurdawara in Beerwah.

She stressed on surface leveling and maintenance work on roads and asked concerned to carry cleanliness drive in and around the main Gurdawra in Beerwah where large gathering is expected to throng during the festival days, particularly on April-15. She emphasized on maintaining proper sanitation and directs Executive Officer Municipal Committee Beerwah to ensure regular lifting of garbage and its proper disposal.

The DDC also stressed on adequate availability of essentials including Kerosene Oil, LPG etc during festive period for the consumers of Sikh community.  The ARTO and Police were directed to ensure foolproof traffic management and hassle-free vehicular movement on the prescribed days.  She said that a medical team along with an ambulance equipped with all first aid facilities will also remain stationed at the prescribed site during festive days.
