Srinagar, March 23: Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Saturday underscored the need for the immediate revocation of the infamous SRO 202, stating that the SRO is questioning is hitting the qualified youth hard in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kadfeen while interacting with scores of youth delegations termed SRO 202 anti- youth and said that those at the helm in the past should have at least taken into account the hardships the educated youth of the state are facing and that there should have been a helping extended to these youth instead of taking the meagre opportunities away from them.

Under the SRO 202, during the period of first five years, the government appointee shall be entitled to the minimum of scale of pay along with the grade pay applicable to the post against which he is appointed. And further, every appointee shall after completion of five years period on probation be entitled to fixation of pay in the time-scale of pay applicable to the post against which he is appointed. This rule was enacted in the state under the regime of the PDP-BJP coalition amid much opposition from the social and civil society groups who termed it tantamount to slaughtering the abilities of the talented youth and rendering them into monkeys being thrown the peanuts.

“We demand that the SRO must be revoked and if not, Congress once coming to power will make scrapping it as a top priority. Congress alone has been making strenuous efforts to accord youth dignified way of living and provide them adequate opportunities,” Kadfeen said.
